Sukhumvit Road Market Naklua

Sukhumvit Road Market Naklua (North Pattaya Market / Nakula Market) is located on the Sukhumvit Road in North Pattaya.  This is a is a big and busy market nightly market and offers a huge range of goods, more so than most other markets in Pattaya.

With around 600 stalls (including around 100 stalls selling local food and drink), this is one of the largest markets in Pattaya.  The market has an unusual layout, instead of being in a grid, or rows, you enter through a food stall corridor and then 'snake' your way through the rest of the stalls back towards the main road.

You can find an eclectic mix of goods here, including a unique assortment of souvenirs.  Many stalls sell low cost clothing, footwear and accessories, but you can also find jewelry, DVD's, electronics, mobile phones, sunglasses and home-ware.  As this market is more popular with locals than tourists then the prices are lower here, however clothes tend to be 'Thai' size.  You will be able to find goods here that you cannot at other markets in the area - such as desktop computers, widescreen televisions, games consoles and even satellite dishes.  This market is well worth a visit for a taste of Thai life and a great bargain.

This market is open from around 5pm until late.

Naklua Sunday Market

As it's name suggests Naklua Sunday Market is located in Naklua and open every Sunday.  At this open-air market you can purchase items such as clothing, footwear, accessories, DVD's, electronics, pets, fresh food and fruits.

Some other markets in the area:

  • 133-year-old Ang-Sila Market located close to Sukhumvit Road in Ang Sila; set in wooden houses you can find fresh seafood, local food, woven textiles and souvenirs.  Open weekends 10am to 6pm.
  • Naklua fish market is a working market open from 5am-9am where you can buy fresh seafood. For a small fee there is a BBQ area outside of the market where locals will cook your purchases for you.

Street Vendors

There are many small street stalls around the city offering a variety of wares including souvenirs, clothing and fake goods.  You may even be approached by vendors walking around the streets, in restaurants or on the beach offering very cheap fake goods.  Use extreme caution when purchasing from these vendors as the quality of their goods tend to be low and they can be quite annoying and persistent.  It's best not to engage with these types of vendors, and try not to make eye contact to discourage them approaching you.  If you are approached and are not interested, be polite but firm in declining their goods.  If however you do want to buy their goods make sure you use your haggling skills to avoid paying excessive prices!
