In most Pattaya restaurants you will find that in addition to the international dishes on offer, there will also be a Thai menu, so you are always able to order your favorite Thai dish! Many restaurants are open from early morning until late at night - if you're hungry at 2am you will be able to find somewhere to eat, especially around Walking Street and Second Road.
With so many restaurants around you definitely won't go hungry!
Cost effective Pattaya meals:
- Street Food - authentic Thai food on a budget, the cheapest way to eat!
- Local Thai restaurants - there are many family business's that offer good quality, authentic Thai food, at local (cheap) prices.
- Beach Side Restaurants - you can find these all along the many beaches in the area. Sit under parasols at tables and the vendors will provide menus so you can enjoy meals and drinks on the beach - your food will be cooked fresh and delivered to your table. There are so many to choose from and no obvious barriers between each, so try a few and find your favorite!
- Seafood - there is an abundance of locally caught, fresh seafood on offer, from quick snacks to larger meals. Many restaurants, especially around Walking Street, cater for tourists, so are priced for tourists, so for a more cost effective seafood meal head to a beach side restaurant.
Pattaya Restaurants
With so many Pattaya restaurants to choose from you could eat your Pattaya meal somewhere different every night of the year! Restaurants catering for Western tourists will always be more expensive than local restaurants, due to having to source foreign ingredients, however they are still good value and most still cost significantly less than you would expect to pay at home. Here we have listed a few of our favorite restaurants and cafes to give you a taste of what is on offer:
Pattaya
The Kitchen Restaurant and Bistro - if you're craving a good steak here is the place to come! The menu offers some mouth watering dishes at reasonable prices. Serving Thai and Western food there are two restaurants to choose from - one on Beach Road by Walking Street, and the other on Second Road, near Central Festival shopping mall. A fantastic bonus of this restaurant is that they offer delivery via FoodPanda!
German Corner Piccolo - as the name suggests this is a German restaurant, serving delicious German food! Located to the north of Pattaya Beach, in Naklua.
Ruenthai - a unique restaurant, located just off Second Road (opposite Royal Plaza shopping mall), where you can enjoy live traditional Thai dancing and music whilst dining. This is a fantastic place to experience traditional Thai food, in a lovely open-air setting, with a great atmosphere.
Beer Garden - built out into the sea right next to Walking Street; there is a lovely choice of Thai and Western food at reasonable prices, a great place to start your night off. To get to/from the restaurant you walk past a variety of small independent bars, mainly staffed by alluring Thai girls, and arranged around a Thai Boxing ring where local fighters will challenge Westerners to a bout in the ring - don't expect to win if you take up the challenge though, despite the slight appearance of the Thai fighters!
Jomtien
Mays - exquisite Thai food in a beautiful boutique restaurant. This is a small restaurant so it is recommended to book, and more expensive than the average Thai restaurant, but it is definitely worth it! The decor is lovely, bringing the outdoors indoors, and the food is presented fantastically. Especially good is the Massaman curry along with an impressive cocktail.
Sandbar By The Sea - buffet and live music Wednesdays; each at much as you like for just 200 Baht. Live music is also a regular weekend feature. This lovely restaurant is located on Dongtan beach, so you can have a lovely sea view sunset with your dinner.
Eurostar - located on Jomtien Beach, with the bonus of having an ice cream parlor attached, serving a delicious variety of ice cream.
Silver Spoon - kitsch restaurant, delicious food, located on Jomtien Beach.
Nandas - fantastic cafe, yummy breakfasts and great smoothies & milkshakes.
French Bakery - an upmarket cafe serving a good selection of tasty snacks and meals: the wow factor of this cafe is the patisserie, with a mouth watering selection of exquisite cakes and chocolate concoctions.
Back Fabrik - a German bakery on Jomtien Second Road, where you can get yourself a delicious breakfast and buy some great German produce to take home.
Hemingways - great Irish sports bar, lovely food at good prices; if you like a pub quiz you can find one here once a week!
The Pie Shop - if you miss a good pie, this is the place to come, with its fantastic selection of homemade pies!
Wooden Box - promoting healthy eating, with a buffet style salad bar on offer, in addition to a full menu - great for a lunchtime snack.
La Trattoria - found near Foodmart on Thappraya Road this is a lovely Italian restaurant with super tasty food and fantastic pizzas, all for reasonable prices!
Pig n Whistle - traditional British 'pub grub' in addition to a Thai menu. Large portions, good prices, and pool tables.
Pratumnak
Cabbages and Condoms - delicious food, great service and a fantastic setting, being directly on a private section of beach in Pratumnak. The restaurant is also a charity, helping disadvantaged Thais by providing jobs, offering them education and help with family planning and health issues with the restaurant's profits.
The Chocolate Factory - superb location on the cliff side above Cosy Beach. Not only can you enjoy a delicious meal with fantastic views, you can witness chocolate making: there is a chocolate shop within the restaurant offering the exquisite hand made chocolates. This restaurant is well worth a visit just for one of their fantastic deserts (chocolate of course) and the views!
O'Garas - great Irish restaurant attached to a hotel. This restaurant is very popular, so it's worth booking. The lamb shank here is the best around.
Bang Saray
The Beach Restaurant - great beachfront restaurant with a great atmosphere. Serving Western and Thai cuisine, with BBQ nights on Friday and Saturday evenings, along with live music on Saturdays. Reasonably priced food and drinks menus.
Leela Samut Restaurant - this hidden restaurant located in Bang Saray in Navy training center along the sea front. Here you can expect a variety of sea food and traditional Thai cuisine. Good food, good service and good prices. Enjoy dining on the beachfront, with intriguing statues and a live band.
Fine Dining Pattaya
Although Pattaya can be very cheap to eat out in, there are a number of expensive restaurants in the area, offering a fine dining experience. If you're feeling flush then these are definitely worth checking out for a delicious food experience for both the palate and they eyes!
Cafe Des Amis - from start to finish the food here is exquisite, in a beautifully laid out restaurant where you can eat inside or out. The beef wellington is highly recommended:
Au Bon Coin - a small boutique restaurant in Pratumnak with an intimate atmosphere. Perfect for a romantic meal with fantastic food.
Bacco Beach - a fabulous beach-side Italian restaurant, with a large menu, great food and a huge selection of wine!
Amber - a tapas style fine dining experience, a great concept allowing you to sample a great selection of different foods.

Takeaways
Being a popular tourist destination you can find your favorite convenience food outlets (McDondald's, Burger King, KFC etc), along with other popular international brands (Starbucks, Hooters, Hard Rock Cafe etc).
If you don't want to eat out you can find plenty of takeaways around, including Thai, Pizza, Fish and Chips, burgers, Mexican, Italian, Indian and Chinese to name a few; some are collection only but many will deliver. Many restaurants now also provide a delivery service, just ask for a delivery menu next time you're in your favorite restaurant!
